Today's scent of the day is Silver Mountain Water by Creed. This classic scent was launched in 1995 and was inspired by the sparkling high-mountain streams of water in the Swiss Alps. The bottle is also meant to resemble a snow topped mountain with a glistening silver stream. The main notes, among a few others, are green tea, black currant, musk, and bergamot. If you are familiar with the House of Creed, you would know that musk is the signature of Creed’s fragrance DNA and is perfectly represented in Silver Mountain Water. SMW is a day scent for the spring and the summer, although I personally find it to be quite universal and have also worn it some nights and during the winter. Although the notes may suggest that it is a fresher, citrus, summer scent, Olivier Creed was trying to invoke a snow trodden Swiss Alps ambience as I mentioned before, and is therefore suitable for cold, crisp, snowy nights. It has great performance with a moderate to heavy sillage and will last on your skin for about 10 hours. If sprayed on your clothes, you will see that the longevity is wonderfully maximized and the scent will remain there for days, which is quite amazing. I must also include that Silver Mountain Water was the fragrance that catapulted my journeys into the niche fragrance world. I discovered that there was an entire luxury and exclusive fragrance world that was left out on the periphery, while the generic and monotonous designer brands ruled victorious at the center. If it weren’t for Silver Mountain Water, I may never had embarked on this captivating and ethereal quest for the perfect scent.
